Embryonic developmental periods (EDP) in the auks and penguins in relation to values predicted from fresh egg mass for Charadriiform birds. The straight line represents a 1:1 relationship (i.e., observed EDP is the same as that predicted from egg mass). The equation for Charadriiform birds is: predicted EDP = 17.18 × egg mass0.119 [74]. Alcids are indicated by +, penguins are indicated by °.
