Percentage of eggs recovered after 24 hours. Egg-policing behaviour changed dramatically as colonies grew. Workers from small colonies tolerated eggs laid by their own queen (OQ), eggs laid by a foreign, established queen (FQ), and eggs laid by workers (W), whereas workers from large colonies destroyed worker-laid eggs.
