A calibration date for the MRCA of Acacia of 20 Mya was the only prior used. Node bars indicate 95% highest posterior density intervals. Time scale in millions of years. Dashed lines indicate best-fit divergence timing model priors for thrips tree (14.0 & 5.6 MYA) and for a fossil of *A. melanoxylon during the Pliocene (2.5 – 5.0 MYA). Colour scheme as in Figure 2.
