BEAST consensus tree of scrub-jays based on cyt b mtDNA sequences new to this study combined with existing sequences from GenBank. A more comprehensive version of this tree including all outgroup samples is available through Dryad [30]. The Western Scrub-Jay is paraphyletic because it does not include the Island Scrub-Jay. The one texana individual that does not group with the clade of texana individuals with 0.87 PP is denoted with a small arrow next to the tip label.
