Expressions of Abp paralogues painted onto 5' trees which represent phylogenetic relationships among the 5' regions of rodent Abpa-like and Abpbg-like genes 19. For simplicity, the expression in parotid and prostate/ovary, which is identical in the two sexes (a11 and bg11 only), has been omitted. The trees were generated with repeat-masked genomic DNA sequences 300 bp and 1 kb, respectively, 5' to the translational start sites of Abpa and Abpbg genes (see 19 for details). The lineages containing the proposed roots of the trees are shown by black dots and bootstrap values >80% are shown.
