  1. Phenotypic variances (VP), additive genetic variances (VA) and heritabilities (h2) of body mass were estimated by half-sib analyses from the variance components among sires separately for the different environments. Standard errors of VA and h2 were estimated using the formula in [59]. The effect of population (P > 0.39 in both origins) was included to the models as a random factor.* P < 0.05, n.s.= non-significant.
