The common substitutions identified are located at the amino acid position of the zebrafish (Danio rerio) ortholog. The consensus numbering of zebrafish is given in the right. The Cys 10 and 108 residues of Salmo salar and Thunnus albacares are shadowed by purple. The corresponding Cys sites in Gymnarchus niloticus (Mormyroidea) are shown in blue, in Gymnotiformes in green, in the remaining species in orange. The alignments of each Cys sites are in the red boxes. Clade h (Fig. 1) is the common ancestor of the genus Gymnotus and Electrophorus electricus.
