Amy2b protein sequence alignments between individuals of the different mouse populations. Substitutions are marked in reference to the outgroup sequence from M. caroli. The red block arrows at the top indicate the exons - note that one of the exons is alternatively spliced, i.e. two major protein variants are expected to exist. The Amy2b tree to the right is derived from this alignment, but includes also the information from the non-coding substitutions. The tree at the far right represents a randomly chosen genome region from chromosome 3 (chr3:54,483,946–54,586,356) which reflects the expected topologies among the subspecies
